CALL FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS

The Global Research Network on Parliaments and People is now accepting applications for small grants (£1,000 – £5,000) from organisations and individuals wishing to undertake interdisciplinary research on Parliaments, elected politicians and politics in Ethiopia and Myanmar.

Applications are invited under the GRNPP’s Parliaments and People (P4P) programme which recognises that academics, artists, activists play a vital role in helping to scrutinise, understand, communicate and support the processes and relationships required to deepen democracy.

Three broad themes are aimed at stimulating innovation with an emphasis on promoting historical, gender and cultural research:
1. Culture of representation
2. History of exclusion and instability
3. Imagining deeper democracy through media and the arts

Led by Professor Emma Crewe, this programme is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Global Challenges Research Fund and co-ordinated by SOAS University of London in collaboration with Enlightened Myanmar Research FoundationForum for Social Studies, Hansard Society, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Leeds University.

Who can Apply?
We welcome applications from academic researchers, artists and those working the cultural and creative industries.  The main applicant for a grant must consider either Ethiopia or Myanmar to be both their place of residence and their home country. We will give preference to those who generally get less access to funding opportunities.
