As part of our research project titled, “Pat Jasan: Genesis, Impact and Challenges,” our mini research team comprised of one researcher and two research assistants embarked on a research field trip to eastern Kachin and northern Shan state in March 2017. We travelled ( ) miles and occasionally crossing Sino-Burmese border and conducted 13 key informant interviews (KII) and 10 focus group discussions (FDG), covering 9 village tracts and towns. We interviewed PJS leaders from KIO headquarters, KIO officials and PJS divisional leaders of Eastern Division, PJS members of local towns and villages, village administration heads, women’s groups and local activist networks. This research will be published in mid-2017.
